Drama-digest

After two close friends wed into the wealthy Ma family on the same day, “Modern Dynasty” centers on the ups and downs of the three generations of that family. As the plot develops, various backstories and motivations are revealed, resulting in family tragedy and the collapse of their commercial empire. The screenwriters should be given all the credit for this. As the show continues, more backstories and motivations come to the surface, and they wonderfully integrate. There will never be a dull moment, and you can count on your eyes constantly being glued to the screen. However, hidden behind their gleaming exterior are internal and external issues threatening the family’s relationships.

The feel-good part

You may have heard excellent things about “Modern Dynasty,” but its cast made people want to watch it. Some of you may have grown up watching many of the performers and actresses, and they evoke such strong memories for me. One should watch this because it’s so unusual to see them all together again.

The disappointing factor

The conclusion is that things took a turn for the worst. For a program with 30 episodes, the hurried finish was disappointing. Instead of pacing this drama slowly in the middle and then quickly in the final act, they could have done better. They got carried away and needed to give the details more thought, perhaps because they were in a hurry.

In-depth analysis

‘Modern Dynasty’ got off to a good start. Everyone may become engrossed at some point since it was so compelling and the tension was so high. One could have missed the family relationships, backstabbing drama, and general nosiness that characterize TVB dramas. It was dramatic, with automobiles exploding and numerous people dying. However, I liked how the plot twists were interwoven and revealed that the character we initially believed to be “evil” wasn’t. All of a sudden, everyone was opposed to Sammie and understood her scheme. The revenge Marco had been planning for years, which turned out to be a misunderstanding, suddenly softened in the last episode. It felt strange for a drama to conclude abruptly after 29 episodes with so much turmoil and plotting behind everyone’s backs. The open conclusion was perhaps too theatrical. Is a second season essential? It left everyone with this dilemma.

Star power

Julian Cheung, Tavia Yeung, Rain Lee, Him Law, Derek Kwok, Lynn Hung, Toby Leung, Raymond Wong, and others were featured in the series. This is Tavia’s first drama in a long time. She re-establishes her on-screen marriage to Him Law, but they do not play partners in this drama. As the CEO of the company and the wife of the evil second brother, she gave a terrific performance. She should have won second best actress for the performance she gave in this. Well, a female lead with cunning thoughts and malicious intentions, You are on track to win accolades if you excel in this role. The other members of the series’ large family, both primary and supporting actors, performed admirably in their respective parts. Even new faces like Lynn Hung and Rain Lee astounded me with their deftly executed emotive performances.

Overall opinion

‘Modern Dynasty’ is an excellent drama to re-enter the TVB dramas. There is so much happening that it will increase your blood pressure occasionally. It won’t be able to compete with many of the existing series. However, it was still wonderful to see some of the familiar stars and actresses. The plot of the narrative is intriguing. The show’s main backdrop, a stunning, enormous home that highlights the family’s wealthy status, comes with a great script. After all the trouble, the Ma family’s finale was rather cheerful.
