Drama Digest

The host of a late-night radio program is He Xiao Ran. But the incidents that marred her final years as a student continue to trouble her. She had a crush on her close male buddy, Xiao Shang Qi. She had to watch on helplessly while he chased his aspirations of love with another lady, their familiar friend Chen Fei Er, rather than marrying him. The heartache of seeing the man she loved start a relationship with her close friend had to be endured. She also kept her emotions hidden for the friendships she cherished.

She eventually relocated and started a career as a radio DJ. But eight years later, when Xiao Shang Qi returns to town after spending considerable time overseas, her history comes back to haunt her. He has been tasked with salvaging the reputation of a struggling posh hotel. When their paths intersect again, Xiao Shang Qi seems motivated to make amends for his prior transgressions. He claims to have never ceased thinking about her. But is there still time for peace? Or maybe Cupid might find a way to go back in time and start a romance that never happened but should have.

The Feel-Good Part

Undoubtedly, idol urban dramas with love at their core are nothing new, but what makes this drama stand out is how it expands on the traditional idea of love. Family, obligations, and filial piety exist alongside friendship and camaraderie. The show also emphasizes each character’s professional aspects.

The Disappointing Factor

The friendship and relationship between ML, FL, and SFL was first unclear and questioned at the beginning of the drama. After witnessing the drama for ten episodes, you will know what transpired between them. The drama demonstrated how the plot developed from the past to the present. But in this drama, the story is set in the future and then flashes back to what happened in the past. If you want to discover what happened to them in the past, the producer wants you to stay watching.

In-Depth Analysis

The male lead is not your usual tyrannical CEO. Instead, he is flawed yet open to listening to and understanding others. Compared to FL and the second leads, this character doesn’t have as many lines, but the actor’s immersive acting anchored it for me. I can relate to, sympathize with, and like the 3-dimensional figure that Timmy Xu created. It’s good to watch a drama where the tyrannical CEO is portrayed as working hard and not daydreaming about girls all the time.

Additionally, Xiao Shangqi, the male lead, is not a problem-solver or an all-knowing expert. In nearly every case where he must patiently solve the issues on his own or with FL, Xiao Shangqi is undoubtedly in the dark. Our male protagonist is the most empathetic, patient, loyal, and devoted FL character I have not seen in a while. You’ll wish that such a person existed in reality. Sadly, there needs to be a tall, wealthy, attractive, loving man like Xiao Shangqi who would pursue their relationship.

Star Power

The work of each actor or actress was excellent. Each person does a good job of carrying their personality. Even though some of them clearly show signs of infirmity. There are some discrepancies between FL’s behavior and qualities as a spectator. The actress could have done a better job portraying a gentler, more lovable, or more relatable figure. Additionally, sometimes, she “acts” rather than “becomes the character.”

Overall Opinion

Overall, a calm slice of life that will cause you to reflect on relationships and has a definite happy conclusion for all parties involved. The compelling story featured talented performers and actresses. The tale and the chemistry between FL and ML were engaging to watch. Every OST is fantastic.
