Suangporn Jaturaphut is a Thai actress who was born in 1988. Suangporn grew up in the slums of Bangkok, Thailand, with her mother after her father abandoned the family. Suangporn’s mother ensured that she went to school and got an education. Suangporn went to school and studied English and Chinese, as well as swimming and computer abilities.
She aspired to be an actor in her teens to help pay for her mother’s medical problems, so she turned to an aunt who performed in Thai soap operas for aid. Suangporn’s aunt refused to help her, so when she was seventeen, she decided to pursue her dream of being an actor on her own. She eventually got an agent who helped her land a small part in Paul Spurrier’s film P.
Suangporn turned up to prepare her two sequences on the same day the actress who was meant to play the main protagonist Aaw/Dau abandoned the production. She requested to audition for the lead role of Aaw/Dau by performing a sequence in which the character weeps, and she was cast in the role. Suangporn’s scenes with sexual nature were toned down because she was still seventeen. She had no previous acting experience.
Suangporn handed her mother all of the money she received once the film was completed to help her pay for a medical procedure. Suangporn was helped by the filmmakers to get into Assumption University, where she earned a B.A. in Chinese for Business. Because Dau appears in several parts of the film, the filming hours were lengthy and arduous. The learning curve was also difficult. Suangporn lacked any recognised acting skills or tricks. Her performance would have to be based on instinct and genuine feeling if it was to be successful.
