Born in 1962, Park Heung-Sik is a film director and screenwriter from South Korea. Park got his master’s degree in filmology from the Free University of Berlin.  After receiving positive feedback for his short films at film festivals, he moved on to features with his 2005 debut The Twins, which got only a tepid reception from critics and viewers.

Park relied on his personal experiences for his second feature, The Railroad, and set out to take a picture with a story he wanted to tell. His wife, film editor Park Gok-Ji, co-produced and co-directed The Railroad, which premiered at the 11th Pusan International Film Festival in October 2006. While Park took his time delivering the film’s muted finale, he “nevertheless demonstrates an adept mastery of visual design and emotional punctuation,” according to Paolo Bertolin of The Korea Times. After a limited distribution in Korean theatres, the Railroad debuted at the 25th Torino Film Festival in May 2007. It won the FIPRESCI award for Best Actor for Kim Kang-woo. After an extended period, he directed the movie Twenty Again in 2015. He was the screenwriter for The twins(2005), The Railroad(2007), and Twenty Again(2015).
