Park Chan-Wook is a South Korean film director, screenwriter, producer, and former film critic born on 23 August 1963 in Seoul, South Korea. He completed his graduation in philosophy from Sogang University. He is married to Kim Eun-Hee and has a child named Seo-Woo. He started his career as an assistant director from the films like Kkamdong, directed by Yu Yeong-Jin, and Watercolor Painting in a Rainy Day, directed by Kwak Jae-Yong. His debut feature film was The Moon is the Sun’s Dream(1992). His second film was Trio.
In the earlier days, he worked as a film critic to make a living. The South Korean television series through which Park Chan-Wook got significant popularity is ‘Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance'(2002), ‘Oldboy'(2003), ‘Thirst'(2009), and ‘The Handmaiden'(2016). The feature films he has recently worked are ‘The Truth Beneath(2016) and ‘Decision to Leave.’ He recently worked in The Little Drummer Girl (2018), Snowpiercer (2020-present), and The Sympathizer.
