Tetsuo Kato, popularly known as Toru Emori, is a Theatre Director, Actor, and Voice Actor from Japan. Since 1965, he has appeared in almost sixty films. He was born on January 25, 1944, in Tokyo, Japan.

Emori joined the Bungakuza Theatre Troupe’s acting school in 1962 and rose to recognition in 1964 with the play ‘Mugiiri no Chikin Spu’.

He joined the Television as an actor in 1966 with the drama series “Minamoto No Yoshitsune”. After that, he appeared on the 5th NHK Taiga drama “San Shimai” in 1967, where he portrayed the role of ‘Yamagata Kyōsuke’, a senior ranking Japanese military commander. Likewise, he got the chance to appear in many other Taiga dramas such as “Mominoki Wa Nokotta (1970)”, “Shin Heike Monogatari (1972)”, “Katsu Kaishū (1974)”, “Kenpō Wa Madaka (1996)”, “Kōmyō ga Tsuji (2006)”, etc. The last TV drama where he appeared was “Hana Moyu (2015)” and portrayed the role of ‘Akuzawa Gonzō’.

Apart from TV series, Toru Emori had also done a few movies in his acting career. “Hi no Tori (1978)”, “Shaso (1989)”, “Dreams of Russia (1992)”, “Glory to the Filmmaker! (2007)”, etc, are some of the Japanese films where he had appeared as a co-star.

Toru Emori also worked as a voice artist for various animation films such as “Genma Taisen (1983)”, “Doraemon: Nobita’s Great Adventure in the South Seas (1998)”, “Tokyo Godfathers (2003)”, and “Paprika (2006)”.
