Biography: Chō

Chō, formerly known as Yūichi Nagashima, is a Voice Actor, Narrator, and Dubbing artist residing in Japan. He is known for lending his vocals to Brook in One Piece.

Born and brought up in Kōnosu, Saitama, Japan, He completed his graduation at Nishogakusha University in the department of literature. He attained training at Bungakuza’s research institution and the Seinendan Theater Company and thereby attached himself to Production Baobab in 1986.

He got his name Chō in 2006 after his character played Tanken Boku no Machi.
In 2007 he decided to get a transfer to the Tokyo Actor’s Consumer’s Cooperative Society. Besides being a Voice Artist Chō also possesses excellent calligraphy skills and is a licensed teacher in it.

He has dubbed for movies including Madagascar 2 (2009), Madagascar 3 (2012), and Mulan (1998).Chō has provided his vocals in television animated shows, OVA, video games, etc.

Some of his works include 1989 Time Travel Tondekeman as the voice for Pilot, Bronze Statue,1990 Kyatto Ninden Teyandee as the voice for Himawari, Yongō Sasanishiki, Piddo, Missile Yachōbee, Buffalo, Ishikari, Chibi Maruko-chan as the voice behind Fujiki’s Father, 1992 Floral Magician Mary Bell as the voice behind the character Nope, Mikan Enikki as Momojirō, Uchū no Kishi Tekkaman Blade as Sakurai Staff Officer and Guerilla Soldier, The Brave Express Might Gaine as the voice of Sally and Tetsuya’s Father, 1994 Brave Police J-Decker as Doctor Volker, Haō Taikei Ryū Knight as Izumi’s Teacher and Grandpa Rōbā, 2016 KonoSuba as Professor, 2018 Mr Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues as Ōtsuki and Zawa Voice, Overlord III as Parpatra Orion, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments as Golgius, black Clover as Gifso/High Priest, 2019 showKengan Ashua as Kazuo Yamashita, 2020 Listeners as McGee, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as Victor, Akuma Drive as Shark, etc. Most recently, he lent his vocals to the character Ōpami in the movie The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace.

He has also been part of OVA’s like Animation Runner Kuromi (2001) as Nonki Hayama, Demon Prince Enma (2006) as Grandfather Shapo, Darker than Black (2008) as Contractor, One-Punch Man OVA (2015) as The Clothes-shop Owner,
Cute Executive Officer (2021) as Konpota-Ojisan/Mr. Corn Potage.

Recognizing his extraordinary efforts towards the voicing section, he was awarded the 12th Seiyu Awards (2018) in the category of Kei Tomiyama Memorial Award.
