Feng Xiaogang was born on 18 March 1958 in Beijing, China. He is the son of a college professor and nurse. He is an actor, screenwriter, and film director by profession. After completing high school, he joined the military region art troupe, Beijing as a stage designer. In 1985, he began his career as an art designer in the television art center, Beijing. After that, he used to write screenplays. At this time, he also comes in contact with writer Wang Shuo and director Zhang Xiao Long. People started knowing him for his genre, Hesui pian. He came to the limelight as a director when he directed the dream factory in 1997. Mostly he worked in comedy-dramas. He got married to Xu fan in 1999. As a director, his last movie is Youth, 2017; as a writer, If You Are The One 2 in 2010; as an actor, he worked on Rock Dog, 2016. He got many awards, including the best actor for 2015’s Mr. Six.
