Movie Digest
The movie is set in the 1980s. The KCIA’s Foreign Unit Chief Park Pyong-ho and Domestic Unit Chief Kim Jung-do are entrusted with locating North Korean espionage identified as Donglim, who is someone from their own agency. Each of the two teams is tasked with looking into the other after the spy starts leaking top-secret information that could endanger national security. Pyong-ho and Jung-do gradually start to learn the truth and learn of an unbelievable plot to assassinate the South Korean president in this delicate position where, if they cannot discover the mole, they may be charged themselves.
The Feel-Good Part
This is a whole lot of an action movie. The action in the movie is amazing and very defined. Everything seems realistic and not and not like acting. And it doesn’t have just any type of action, it has the classy type of action with all the guns and fights where there is this one person giving out orders. It all seems fantastic and amazing to look at.
The Disappointing Factor
The movie falls short of satisfying the audience with its story. the storyline turns out to be messy and complicated. There are a lot of plots in the movie. It is a plot within a plot within a plot. this makes the story more and more confusing as it progresses. It is not just about the plot, there are many potholes in the story, and you just cannot decipher how certain things happen or why certain things happen.
In-Depth Analysis
Hunt is an action-packed political movie. Directed and acted by Lee Jung-Jae, which marks his first work as a director. We can say that he did a good job as a director keeping aside the plot. The story of the movie is good if you can understand it. the movie turns out to be more confusing for the international audience as they don’t know about South Korea’s political standing during the late 1970s and early ’80s. and then the movie keeps on bringing one plot after the other which makes the story messy.
Hunt has very good action and acting but a good movie is regarded as such because it is built on a decent story and script, in addition to having good performers and good action scenes. The latter, Hunt lacks. Despite being based on historical figures and events, it falls flat. It’s like overlaying a fantastical story on real-life events. It is unsuccessful.
Star Power
The star cast is spectacular. Every single actor is fantastic and plays the role they are given well. Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung are two of the best actors and they don’t fail us here also. The acting in the movie is top tire from all the actors.
Overall Opinion
If you are a hardcore action movie fan, then go with this one otherwise it is just confusing and complicated. The multiple plots make it difficult to understand but still, the action and acting are two things that are good.
