Movie Digest
Authentic musical practices will be taught to his daughters by an elderly group leader of ethnic musicians. He finds it difficult to accomplish this because many males attempt to appeal to them, and they enjoy making independent music. There exists a generational gap between them, and this movie shows how, when we overcome this gap, we can learn so much more about others and grow as individuals.
The Feel-Good Part
This film is highly eccentric and easily charming. Though this story appears to be related to music and how the older generation wants to pass on their musical ideas and inclinations to the younger generation, it has several underlying messages. Firstly, the generational gap that exists between them is nothing less than a difference in beliefs and ideas that arose due to their growing up in different times and settings. Even though such a generational gap exists, they try their best to bridge it up and not let it affect them, as they both have come together for the sole purpose of their love for life and their love for making music. Secondly, it showcases the family and other relationships that exist between different types of people. Some of them have romantic feelings for each other, while others treat each other as family members.
The Disappointing Factor
The only disappointing factor about this whole movie is the fact that they did not add much depth to all the relationships they portrayed throughout the movie. The romantic and family relationships featured were not explored through all of the layers in which they existed, and they only went to the depths of one layer. A little more depth would have made this a much more enjoyable watch, but the movie only went for a relaxed look at relationships and music, too, and focused on everything else.
In-Depth Analysis
Dokpakboong is a lovely girl who enchants every boy in the community. She won’t speak to any of them, either. She hopes that Huakai will understand that her heart belongs to him because he is the only one she has ever loved. As Tobao is also in love with Jong, a powerful boxer and one of Dokapakboong’s suitors, Dokpakboong’s sister helps her win Huakai’s heart. Huakai’s father, Boonrob, the father of Dokpakboong and Tobao, despises Huakai because he has a grudge against Huakai’s family. In an effort to sway Dokpakboong away from Huakai and toward Lamtoey, the band’s sweet-voiced vocalist, Dokpakboong tries to persuade him to study and inherit the Ramwongwiankrok traditional dance.
Star Power
The stars do an amazing job of portraying their characters and the relationships between each of them. Given their characters are of a wide range of ages, they give it their best, and it shows.
