The narrative follows their unwavering commitment from the early days of liberation to the present, portraying their efforts to uphold their initial purpose of aiding the residents. The storyline revolves around a family of women who maintain their devotion to their neighborhood across three generations, spanning from the liberation era to contemporary times. Their experiences mirror the changing facets of youth in each era, providing a glimpse into the Hutong Culture in Beijing. Tian Zao, deeply involved in grassroots efforts since the inception of liberation, eventually rises to leadership within the residents’ committee, dedicating seven decades to serving the community. She actively engaged in activities such as counterespionage, tackling illiteracy, and rallying support to contribute handicrafts to the volunteer army. During the reform period, she urges her daughter to follow in her footsteps. Remarkably, even after her retirement, Tian Zao remains steadfast in her position.
