Biography: Nantawan Mekyai

A Thai actress who has never failed to surprise the audience with her acting proficiency is Nantawan Mekyai. She was born on 10th September 1945. In 1971 Nantawan Mekyai appeared in a movie titled Sawan Biang. In this drama, she played the character of one of the lead identities, Narin. Along with her, Sayan Jantharavibool brings into the world another central role named Kawee. Additionally, Metta Roongrat as Leela and Lek Sa-Ard Piempongsan are also part of the movie. Adult Dulyarat has directed the film Sawan Biang. The tale of the film starts with a youthful, innocent woman named Narin who survived after the stepson of her sister sexually harassed her. However, Leela, who is Narin’s sister,  has lost her love. This incident later led her to initiate a new relationship with a wealthy businessman named Kid Worawat. He has also lost his loved ones and had a son, Kawai. Moreover, the story veers around when Leela knows about Kawai, who was his school crush. After her wedding with Kid Worawat, Leela and her family changed their course and moved into Kid’s mansion. However,  Kawai disliked this, and he turned on hating Leela. Nonetheless, he seemed his revenge on her by kidnapping and raping her.

Again in 1976, a show titled Poo Chana Sip Thit came out in which Nantawan Mekyai featured in the lead role as Nantawan Mekyai. The makers of the drama have adopted the storyline from a novel. The story of the show had the setting of 1530 in the Ayutthaya period. However, the tale commences when Sadet dreams of being a Burmese king, that is King Bayinnaung. During that era, King Bayinnaung had been recognized as The Conqueror of Ten Directions.  He wanted to extend his monarchy to Southeast Asia, including Thailand. Some notable cast members of this drama are Nhing Nirut Sirijanya as Sadet AKA King Bayinnaung, Pisan Akaraseranee as King Tabinshwehti, Kanokwan Darundon as Kusuma, Tuk Deuntem Salitul as Mook Aye and Suprawat Pattamasoot as Saw Binnie. This Wam is another drama in which Nantawan Mekyai had featured as the central character. This show comes under the romantic genre.

Some main identities of this drama are Jum Uthumporn Silaphan as Wanwisa, Chana Sriubon, Anusorn Dechapunya.
