Biography: Kanya Rattanapetch

Kanya Rattanapetch is an actress and fashion model in Thailand. She hails from Bangkok, Thailand, and was born on 2nd November 1989. She rose to fame after starring in “The Love of Siam,” a film released in 2007, as “Ying.” At present, she is pursuing her Master’s at the prestigious “Bangkok University.”

She initiated her acting career when she was 13 or 14. She debuted as “Tarn” in the 2005 Thai horror film “Scared(Rab Nong Sayong Kwan).” Kanya also worked as a model in addition to performing. She starred in two more films, “Mor.8” in 2006 and “Sick Nurses” in 2007. She gained prominence after portraying the martyr girl ‘Ying’ in the critically acclaimed Thai film “Love of Siam (Rak Haeng Sayam).”

Kanya played supporting roles in several TV series and lakorns from three primary Thai television stations. She debuted in “Ruk Rhythm,” a television drama aired on “Channel 5.” Following the sitcom, she starred in Ch.3’s Lakorn “Ruk Sorn Kaen.” She also featured as “Noodee” in ch.7’s (Ch.3’s rival network) Lakorn “Mea Luang,” in 2009. Kanya rejoined the ch.3 for “Sapai Glai Peun Tiang.” The series aired in Thailand and other surrounding countries. She also played the lead role in Chapter 7 for Lakorn, “Coke E-Ling Hansa.”

Kanya appeared in the music video for his song “Safe Distance” as WAN’s leading lady. After her performance in “Love of Siam,” she received several other offers, including “Safe Distance.” The song and its music video ranked first, in Thailand’s charts, due to Kanya and Wan’s phenomenal chemistry. Kanya appeared in a new music video for WAN’s upcoming single “What the Rest.” The MV continues the plot from the first, but it ends on a sad note. Kanya also appeared in two music videos by the Thai band “AM Fine.” She portrayed a “Rocker-Emo,” a girl who fell for an already committed guy.

In 2008, she starred in another film, “4 Romance,” alongside Mario Maurer and Witwisit Hiranyawongkul. Previously, the prominent actors appeared in “Love of Siam.” The three renowned actors did not feature in the same scene, as they all played the lead roles in three different chapters of the movie. Witwisit appeared in the ‘Dream’ part, Mario in the ‘Kiss’ segment, and Kanya in the ‘Shy’ segment.
Kanya acted in several films, including “Scared” (2005), “Mor. 8” (2006), “Love of Siam” (2007), “4 Romance” (2008), “Sick Nurses” (2007), “Pai In Love” (2009), and “Who R U” (2010). She also featured in many drama series like “Ruk Sorn Kaen” (2008), “Rhythm Love” (2008), “Bann Pun Dao” (2018), “Wong Wien Hua Jai” (2021), “Sapai Glai Peun Tiang” (2009), “The Wand Warriors” (2021), and “Coke E-Ling Hansa” (2013). She showed her exceptional acting skills in a variety of movies, dramas, and lakorns.

Kanya received two awards as a supporting actress at the “Kom Chad Luek Awards (2008)” and Thailand National Film Association Awards (2008).”
