Biography: Jintara Poonlarp

Jintara Poonlarp is a famous pop singer and actress from Thailand. She was born in Roi Et Province, Thailand, on 6^th March 1969.

She is a prolific performer of mor lam (Thai countryside) and luk thung (Thai pop-country) genre and released 50 original albums, 47 singles, numerous compilations, and music videos. ‘Ma Tammai’ and ‘Faen Ja’ are two of her most successful and hit string (Thai Pop) songs. She co-wrote the songs with Thongchai McIntyre.

Jintara has ‘Jin’ or the epithet ‘Sao Siang Pin’ as her nickname. She has a distinct appearance with short hair and bangs. She has been performing on stage for 33 years.

Jintara’s real name is Tongbai Janlueang, but it changed to Tongbai Poonlarp after her marriage. Her stage name is Jintara. Although her birth date is on 13th March 1971, she celebrates her birthday on 6^th March. She has the exact date of birth on her ID card. Her birth year mentioned on her official Facebook page is 1969.

In 2004, she enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University in Bangkok. Later, in 2006, she pursued her graduation. She began performing at an early age. She recorded 20 audio-only tracks for ‘GMM Grammy.’ Jintara voiced another five songs for the ‘Master Tape-record label.’ Since then, she created recordings for ‘Master Tape,’ titled ‘Mor lam sa on’ and ‘Luk tung sa on.’ Her hit songs got released on VCD, CD, and audiotape.

She released some most significant hit collections, including from the first audio-only series. Her first five albums featured only luk thung. Since then, most of her songs have included luk thung, mor lam, and occasionally string (Thai pop). ‘Mah Tummai’ and ‘Faen Ja,’ both written in collaboration with Thongchai McIntyre, are two of her most well-known string songs. She tours with a live show from September to May of each year. She also appeared on several fronts in Europe and North America.

‘Isan girl separated from her home,’ from album 9, is one of her most successful songs. The melody mixes traditional Thai country themes, including poverty, an unfaithful partner, and homesickness. Jintara released 38 original albums and various anthologies by February 2006. She rose to prominence with the song ‘Tao Ngoi,’ which charted at No. 1 in Thailand from 2018 to 2019, with 123 million YouTube views in less than a year. Roi Et Rajabhat University bestowed an honorary degree on her in October 2004.

Jintara debuted on television in 2001 with the series ‘Nai Hoy Tamin’, the show depicted the lives of rural people in Isan during the historical period. She co-starred in the 2006 action picture, ‘Chai Lai (Dangerous Flowers),’ she played a member of the top-secret team of female crime fighters.
