Young Man Kang is a South Korean film director located in Los Angeles, California. The Last Eve (2005), Soap Girl (2002), Cupid’s Mistake (2001), and Kimchi Warrior (2001) were all directed and produced by Kang (2009). He is the founder and executive director of Seoul Webfest. At Hong-IK, Kang focused on expressive arts at, University in Seoul, Korea.
In 1994, Kang relocated to New York City and studied film at the New School. Kang arrived in Los Angeles in 1996 and began his film career as a director for a television commercial production company. In 2013, Kang debuted Innocence Abandoned: Street Kids of Haiti at the Monaco Charity Film Festival. In 2019, With the support of the Wetzlar Lotte House in Germany and the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, Kang created the online series Lotte Haus.
The Sorrows of Young Werther, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s debut work, is the inspiration for Lotte House. Kang established Seoul Webfest (once known as Kweb Fest) in 2015. It happens yearly in South Korea and is the primary web series celebration in Korea and Northeast Asia. The occasion was made because of the prominence of web series in Korea.
