Park Jung-bum (born 1976) is a film director, screenwriter, and actor from South Korea. The Journals of Musan (2011), Park’s directorial debut, won the New Currents Award and the FIPRESCI Award at the 15th Busan International Film Festival, the Golden Star at the 10th Marrakech International Film Festival, the Tiger Award at the 39th International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Grand Prize, and Young Critics Award at the 47th Pesaro International Film Festival, and the Jury Prize and Young Critics Award at the 47th Pesaro International Film Festival. Park Jung-bum, who graduated from Yonsei University with a major in physical education and aspired to be a physical education teacher, broke into the film industry in 2000 when his short film TEMPLEMENTARY won the grand award at the Yonsei Film Festival.

In 2001, the 16-millimeter short film I directed and starred in and selected for the Wide Angle section of the Busan International Film Festival and the Seoul Independent Film Festival. Later, he enrolled at Dongguk University’s Graduate School of Video and seriously studied films. He was the assistant director of Lee Chang-work, Dong’s Poetry, and earned the Special Jury Prize at the 7th Mise en scene Short Film Festival in 2008 for his short narrative 125 Jeon Seung-Chul, which is the forerunner to The Journals of Musan. He had won the award for excellence for 125 jeon Seunf- Chul in 2008 at the 34th Seoul Independent Film Festival, Silver Astor for Best Actor in 2014 at 29th Mar del Plata International Film Festival, and Jury Grand Prize in 2015 at the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his movie Alive.
