Nam Gi-Nam was a well-known South Korean film, animation, and television series director. He was born in Gwangju, South Korea, on April 17, 1942. Gwangju is a city in South Korea’s southwest corner. It is well-known for a 1980 pro-democracy revolt. He earned his bachelor’s degree in art from Sorabol Art College.  Don’t Cry My Daughter was his first film as director, released in 1972. Animation, comedies, and science fiction were his main genres of work. He gets frequently linked to actor and director Shim Hyung-Rae. He had directed fifty-nine films and wrote three films in 1998, 1993, and 1991.

He tried acting as well in 1987 in the movie “Seoul women”. Some of his notable directed films are Mister O (1977), Gate of Death and Life(1977), Jeongmumun, Returned Tiger, Horimsa Temple(1978), The Burning Solim Temple, The Treasure, Faithful Sang- Yong, Do Not Look Backward, The Man Who Caught the Storm(1979), Barefoot From Pyeongyang, The Girl and the Minstrels, A Courageous Man(1980),  I Know Myself, Three Robot Heroes, At the Roads(1981), A Chivalrous Man of the Geum River, For the Motherland(1982), Please Wait for a Little Longer(1991), Love and Tears(1992), The Fool and the Thief, A Surrogate Father, 18 Years Old(1993), and Baribari Jjang(2005).

After giving so many hits, Nam Gi-Nam passed away on July 24, 2019.
