Biography: Lee Yoon-Ki

Lee Yoon Ki is a famous personality with amazing notable works which are greatly admired around the world. He is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Lee is recognized for a few films like “This Charming Girl”, “Come Rain”, “Come Shine”, and “A Man and a Woman”.

He was born on 1 July 1965 in Daejeon, South Korea. He was raised in the same country. He did his schooling at one of the renowned schools of South Korea. Later, he attended the University of Southern California and earned a degree at there in MA in business administration/economics. After getting his degree from the United States, he moved back to Korea and entered the film Industry. He commenced working as a producer and director and released numerous short movies. All his films got vast attention from viewers around the globe.

He released his first feature film, i.e. “This Charming Girl”, which attained an enormously positive response from the audience and was premiered at several film festivals, including Sundance and Berlin. Following that, he released his second feature film ‘Love Talk,’ which provided large attention towards him. It was also invited to a lot of film festivals, including Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Furthermore, his third and fourth features films, Ad-lib Night and My Dear Enemy acquired colossal fame from the people and received positive critical reviews. After his debut, Lee turned out to be one of Korea’s eminent sources of small-budgeted, congenial dramas about usual people. Lee is known for boosting the worlds of female characters, and also, he has been seen working with a lot of splendid upcoming actresses such as Kim Ji-soo, Han Hyo-Joo and I’m Soo-Jung, and famous Korea’s top actress Jeon Do-Yeon.

He has shown fantastic growth in his career’s journey, which is also influenced by Robert Altman’s earlier works, “Woody Allen”, “Martin Scorsese”, and other American independent films from the 70s and 80s, consisting of the “Coen brothers’ Blood Simple”.

He has been rewarded for his movie ‘Charming Girl’ at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival, and Pusan International Film Festival. At last, he was also even nominated for ‘Love Talk’ at the 2005, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
