Kyoung Mi Lee is a South Korean film director who has directed numerous blockbuster movies. She is also a famous screenwriter with an excellent record in scriptwriting. Her works are greatly appreciated by people around the world. She is somebody who is widely recognized for her films, “The Truth Beneath” (2016), “Crush and Blush” (2008), and “Lady Vengeance” (2005).

She was born in 1 December, 1973 in Seoul, South Korea. Lee completed her early education from one of the nearby schools in her place and later went to Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. She completed her graduation from there and received a Russian degree. Following that, she worked in a famous company for three consecutive years and further attended the School of Film, TV & Multimedia in the Korean National University of Arts and graduated with majoring in Filmmaking in the year 2004.

She continued her career in filmmaking and landed on various projects. She was behind the success of the short film, “Feel Good Story”, which talked about an employee who was given the job of discovering out how her company could evade paying taxes. Viewers showered their love of this movie immensely and due to which it was honored with a lot of awards in the film festival circuit in 2004. Furthermore, Lee released her first feature directorial movie that was “Crush and Blush” (2008). The movie revolves around an obsessive teacher and an outcast student who made a connection over their cohesive misanthropy. This movie was produced by Park Chan-wook, though Lee has previously worked alongside Park on the film “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance”.

Lee’s directional debut movie was premiered at the 13th Busan International Film Festival, which provided a huge spotlight on her. It was released in theatres on October 16, 2008, and received a warm response from the viewers. Additionally, Lee earned the title of Best New Director and Best Screenplay at the Blue Dragon Film Awards 2008 for this movie.

Lee is known for her notable works like “The Unjust” (2010), “Ari Ari the Korean Cinema”(2012), “The Berlin File”(2013), “The Truth Beneath”(2016), “Myoung-suk and Me”(2000), “Lies and memories”(2001), “Today’s horoscope and A Crystal Globe”(2002), “Radio Dreams Quick Service, Feel Good Story”(2003), “The School Nurse Files”(2020) and many more.
