Kim Sang-man is a known South Korean film director and stage director. Kim began his career in designing posters for films in 1997 with the film ‘The Contact.’ Before receiving the opportunity to become the art director of ‘If the Sun Rises in the West’ (1998), he had designed posters for almost 30 films.

The apex of his career as an art director came when he worked for the now-classic ‘Joint Security Area’ (2000). After this, Kim joined a band as a bassist and recorded under his label. This made him have two positions- art director and music director in his next movie, ‘Bloody Tie’ (2006).

He directed his first film ‘Girl Scout’ in 2008. He wrote and directed his next thriller film ‘Midnight FM’ in 2010. His third film as a director, ‘The Tenor – Lirico Spinto’ (2014), is a biopic of South Korean tenor Bae Jae-chul. He was the art director of other films like ‘Happy End’ (1999).
