Biography: Kim Hyun-ah

Kim Hyun-ah, popularly known by the name of Hyuna, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper, composer, and model. Kim is a stellar artist who was popped out in the late 2000s. She is a former member of the groups Wonder Girls, 4minute, Trouble Maker, 4Tomorrow, and Triple H. She hails from South Korea. She was born on June 6, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea. Speaking about her educational qualifications, she attended Choongam Middle School and Korea High School of Music and Arts.

Consequently, she went to Konkuk University and graduated with a degree in contemporary arts. Further, she decided to go after singing as her profession. Hence, she commenced her journey in 2006 as a leading rapper of the group named ‘Wonder Girls’ formed by JYP entertainment. They released their first mini-album titled ‘Wonder Years’ in late 2007. This album was super-hit and topped the South Korean albums chart. Albeit, she left the group in the year 2007 due to her issues. Further, she joined the girl group, ‘4 minute’ in 2008, and they released their album in 2009 named ‘Hot Issue.’

Besides this, she also started her solo journey and did her first work as a collaborative song with Lee Gi-Kwang. She was also seen in his music video named ‘Dancing Shoes.’ After attaining quite a recognition, she released her solo debut song, ‘Change’ in January 2010, and it was a huge triumph and was charted in high positions on plentiful online charts. Afterward, her many albums were out in the industry, Diamond and 4 minutes left in association with Band 4 minute. In addition, she continued with her solo work as well which included Melting, Ice Cream, and A Talk. All her accomplishments made her one of the popular female Korean singers.

Apart from singing, she has also made an appearance in the 2010 film ‘Midnight FM,’ which was directed by Kim Sang-man. It won multiple awards and even received a few nominations as well. Additionally, she has worked as an actress as well and is seen in numerous TV shows, like ‘Invincible Youth,’ ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and ‘Birth of a Family 2’. Counting on, she worked as a mentor in the survival reality show ‘The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project’ in 2017-18. She started her career when she was a mere teenager, and now we can see how far she has come and won several awards, including a few Golden Disc Awards and a Seoul Music Award.
