Susumu Chiba was born in Yokohama, Japan, on September 13, 1970. He is a Kanagawa Prefecture native who works as a voice actor and is presently associated with ‘Office Osawa’. Initially, he was a baseball player but later turned into an Actor-cum-Voice artist.

Chiba joined a production business while studying in college because he was interested in acting and wanted to try something new from baseball. He acquired basic theatrical skills at the production firm, but he was more interested in “having fun” with his friends than in studying acting with the goal to become an actor. He was dissatisfied with the production company’s courses and began organizing study sessions with volunteers. He didn’t appreciate voice acting as a vocation until he went to ‘Office Osawa,’ which does a lot of narration work.

His very first work was as a Commercial Narrator. The part of ‘Fujiwara no Sai’ in the TV anime “Hikaru no Go (2003)” had the most lasting impression. He has been active in the Japanese anime industry since 1996.

Some of his notable works include Wataru, in “Pokemon (1998)”, Kufadis in “Crest of Stars (1999)”, Hiroki Tsujiai in “Ultra Maniac (2003)”, Maki Ichinose in “Bleach (2006)”, Welkin Gunther in “Valkyria Chronicles (2009)”, and many more. He had also given voice to many of the characters in various drama CDs.

Chiba worked as a voice artist in several video games such as Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods, Odin Sphere, Tales of Legendia, Tales of Xillia, Valkyrie Profile, etc. He also worked as a dubbing artist for various American and Canadian series and films.
