Megumi Hayashibara was born in Kita Tokyo, Japan on, March 30, 1967. She is a voice actress, singer, songwriter, and radio personality from Tokyo’s Kita district, and she runs her own Woodpark Office. Her blood group is O. Hayashibara is most known for her roles in Love Hina, Saber Marionette J, Ranma, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Slayers, Detective Conan, Pokémon, All Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku Nuku, Video Girl Ai, Shaman King, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. She attended a Catholic school, and was tormented in fifth grade. She was an enthusiastic club member who took part in Badminton, Biology, Broadcasting, Drama, and English. In an English-language performance of Alice in Wonderland, she portrayed Alice.
Despite having a nursing degree, she has never worked as a nurse. Hayashibara married her unidentified corporate colleague, three-years younger, on March 30, 1998, following a five-year friendship. Hayashibara announced on her radio broadcast on January 10, 2004, that she was expecting her first child. She gave birth to her daughter by caesarian section on June 28 of the same year.
Hayashibara was chosen to voice small roles on Maison Ikkoku in 1986, following voice acting training. Hayashibara later auditioned for Ranma, expecting to be cast as Akane Tendo but was instead cast as Ranma Saotome’s feminine half. Hayashibara appeared at Anime America in 1993 and 1995. Hayashibara performed the voice of Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1995, a role dubbed “creative casting.” Aromatherapy and collecting telephone cards are two of her interests. She is a registered and fully certified nurse. Hayashibara created a manga series for Anime V magazine, featuring artwork by Sakura Asagi.
