Kyoko Fukada is a Japanese actress and vocalist. With it, her name will sometimes be contracted to the nickname, Fukakyon. She was represented by the agency Horipro.  She was born on November 2, 1982, and raised in Kito, Tokyo, Japan. She has a younger sister. She yearned to be like her idol, Tomomi Kahara, when she was in the second grade of junior high school. On 20 October 1996, Fukada won the 21st Talent Scout Caravan Grand Prix Award as a part of the “Pure Girl Audition” at the age of 13. She started her career as an actress in 1997 alongside her first appearance in the television series Sore ga Kotae da! as Kazune Mizuno. Fukada appeared in her first movie, Ring 2, as Kanae Sawaguchi in 1999 and later in Class Day of the Dead, released in 2000. She graduated from Horikoshi Highschool in 2001.

In 2002, she made an appearance in Dolls as Haruna. Fukada is additionally a J- pop singer, and her debut single “The Last Fruit” led to her album “Dear…,” both released by Pomh Canyon in 1999. Furthermore, she also does movies and has worked as a television actress, her hit South Korean- Japanese television short drama, Friends that aired in 2002.

She is known for taking over various roles, from comedy to drama. In “Kamikaze Girls,” also aired on Netflix, she played a woman in “Lolita” style, a street fashion that attracts inspiration from the clothing of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Furthermore, Kyoko Fukada participated within the 21st new talent show “TSC” trial, won the championship-Miss Holy, and entered the entertainment industry. She has acted in, ‘God, please give me more time’, ‘The Story of the Second Wife’, ‘The Story I Read on the Day of First Love’, and other film and television dramas, which was highly regarded.

 

Moreover, she won the award for ‘Best Supporting Actress at the Yokahama film festival’ for Kamikaze Girls. Also, she was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the Japan Academy Prize in 2000.

On 27 May, 2021, she revealed that she suffered from an adjustment disorder caused by stress and decided to need an opportunity from her career to focus full time on her medical treatment.
