Gordon Maeda is a Japanese actor who was born in the United States. Sonny Chiba, a Japanese actor, and martial artist is his father. Maeda was born on January 9, 2000, in Los Angeles, California. Sonny Chiba, a Japanese action performer, and Tamami, his second wife, are his parents. He has a half-sister Juri Manase and a brother Mackenyu from his father’s previous marriage. Before going to Japan with his mom, Maeda resided in Beverly Hills for twelve years before finishing primary school.

In 2015, he and his parents split up. Gordon started Kyokushin karate when he was five years old and practiced for seven years. On his first interaction with the saxophone in elementary school, he fell in love with it and imagined he could play it for the rest of his life. After starting junior high school in Kyoto, he joined the school’s brass band and took a break from karate. He developed his desire to attend Tokyo University of the Arts to become a professional saxophonist. To further pursue his dream, he went to Meisei Gakuin, a private senior high school in Okayama with a highly reputable brass band and peculiar course to go professional.

He lived in the school dorm in Okayama throughout high school. Together with the Meisei Gakuin brass band, he won silver and bronze awards at All-Japan Band Competition in 2016 and 2017.  After failing his entrance exam for Tokyo University of the Arts, he began to investigate a career in show business. He met people in the entertainment industry and the team that later developed his debut film, Little Love Song, through his father in 2018. Kitakyushu 2018 Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC). In Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) Kitakyushu 2018, he made his runway appearance.

He made his acting debut in the musical drama film Little Love Song released on May 24th, 2019. He played student band guitarist Shinji Fukumura. Before filming the movie in Okinawa, the casts trained to play band instruments respective to their roles for six months. Maeda joined the rest of the cast for the film’s promotional tour, which included appearances on the television music shows Music Station and Love Music as “Chiisana Koi no Uta Band.”

He appeared in the sports-themed TV drama No Side Manager in July 2019 as Keita Nanao, an ex-rugby player who returned to New Zealand. He was cast in the drama after three rounds of auditions. To prepare for the audition, he acquired 15 kg in three months to mimic the body of a rugby player.
