Akira Fuse is a Japanese singer and actor who was born in Tokyo, Japan on December 18, 1947. His first single, “Kimi ni Namida to Hohoemi o,” was released in 1965. “Cyclamen no Kahori” (“The Scent of Cyclamen”) and “Kimi wa Bara Yori Utsukushii” (“You are More Beautiful than a Rose”) are two of his best-known songs.
He currently appears on television on a regular basis, goes on seasonal tours, hosts a late-night talk show, and participates in a number of stage productions. His music was featured in the popular Japanese TV series “Kamen Rider Hibiki” in 2005, with the closing theme “Shnen yo” and later the second opening theme “Hajimari no Kimi e”.
Fuse had appeared in few Japanese films such as Tora-san, the Matchmaker (1979), Welcome Back, Mr. McDonald (1997), and Minna no Le (2001). In episodes 32 and 33 of “Kamen Rider Hibiki”, Fuse appeared as the senior former Oni master who gives Hibiki the Armed Saber.
He married actress Olivia Hussey in 1980, but the couple split in 1989 because he couldn’t find work in the US and Olivia couldn’t relocate her first-born son, Alexander Martin, to Japan. The couple has a son, named Maximillian Fuse. Since April 2013, he has been married to Yukari Morikawa, also an actress of the Japanese film industry.
