Biography: Song Qian

Song Qian, also famed as Victoria Song or Victoria, is a famous Chinese actor, singer, dancer, model and author renowned for her K-pop group f(x). She was born on February 2, 1987 in Qingdao, Shandong and has majored in Chinese ethnic dance from Beijing Dance Academy. She was initially scouted by an agent at SM Entertainment and after passing audition, she began working under SM Casting System.

Victoria Song gained fame in 2010 from her work in ‘We Got Married Season 2’, as a part of a virtual couple with Nichkhun. Along with this, she is known for being a member of KBS’s ‘Invincible Youth.’ She began taking up acting in China and doing lead roles in television drama series such as ‘When Love Walked In’ (2012), ‘Beautiful Secret’ in 2015, ‘Ice Fantasy’ (2016), and A Life Time Love (2017), based on the novel ‘Once Promised’ by Tong Hua. She also starred in fantasy romance dramas such as ‘Moonshine and Valentine’ (2018) and romantic comedy-drama ‘Find Yourself’ (2020). She has worked in films like My New Sassy Girl (2016), My Best Friend’s Wedding (2016), and Wished (2017).

In 2010, Song and fellow f(x) members had been appointed ambassadors for a blood donation campaign for “World Blood Donor Day.” She also participated in the press conference to promote awareness for a fundraising campaign to help children in Africa, jointly organized by the Red Cross and UNICEF. In 2014, she opened a flea market where she sold her personal belongings for charity and later handed over all the proceedings to UNICEF.

In 2018, she released her debut solo single music, “Roof on Fire”. On May 19, 2020, Song released her self-titled solo album digitally, which had been postponed since 2017. her first album consists of ten tracks, with three English-language tracks. It alos included her previously released single “Roof on Fire” and. It became a hit and sold over 250,000 copies in its early hours of pre-sale. It made Victoria Song the fastest Chinese female artist to reach diamond certification on QQ Music in 2020. In August 2020, Victoria’s female-centric drama Love Yourself was released worldwide.

Victoria has won the Popularity Award at the MBC Entertainment Awards for her work in ‘We Got Married’ and the Best New Actress Award at the China National Drama Awards for her performance in ‘When Love Walked In’.

In 2021, Victoria terminated her endorsement contract with H&M, a clothing manufacturer, after its criticism of China for violations of Human rights against Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region, where cotton is grown for clothing products. In April 2021, SM Entertainment also announced that their contract with Song had ended.
