Shigeki Hosokawa was born on December 16, 1971, in Gifu, Japan. He is a former model and actor from Japan. Hosokawa graduated from Ogaki Municipal North Junior High School and Ogaki Municipal North Elementary School. In 1988, he graduated from Ogaki Public High School.

In 1994, he made his acting debut in a TBS Japanese Television Drama. In the same year, he had a brief appearance on a variety game programme. He worked as a professional model from 1995 to 2000. In 2002, he took a break from modelling to devote more time to acting. He did not attend an acting school after graduating from high school, therefore he used this time to hone his craft. He earned tiny parts in advertisements and drama series between 1995 and 2002, although primarily working as a model. 

Following that, in 2004, Hosokawa was cast as the lead in the long-running “Kamen Rider series” and “Kamen Rider Hibiki.” He garnered followers from all over the nation, including youngsters to housewives, which was his target audience. Japanese critics praised him for his performance as Hibiki. Following the conclusion of “Kamen Rider Hibiki,” he earned the role of ‘Taira no Shigehira’ in the Samurai Drama “Yoshitsune.

Both Kamen Rider Hibiki and Kamen Rider Yoshitsune broadcast at 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., respectively. He was given the nickname “The 8 o’clock guy” in Japan since both shows ran in different 8 o’clock timeslots. He then starred in a one-hour live-action special that aired as a prequel to the anime series “Skullman.”

In 2006, he starred in the action thriller movie “Death Note” as Raye Iwamatsu, for which he was well appreciated by the movie critics.
