Crystal Kay, also known as Kuri Chan, is a Japanese Singer, Songwriter, Radio Host, and Actress. She was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan.

Her mother was Korean Japanese, and her father Mr Shunkay was African-American. Crystal completed her schooling at Kinnick High School and pursued college at Sophia University.

Crystal started her music career when she was just four years old. She sang a song for a TV commercial. In 1999 when she was 12 years old, she released her single Eternal Memories, which got recognition; this was her third music album, named Almost Seventeen, which got featured on the 2nd number on Japanese Oricon charts and sold over 4 lakh copies.

Besides that, this album was also awarded a platinum certificate by the Recording industry association of Japan. Crystal signed with Epic Records, a branch of Sony Music Japan.

At the beginning of her career, she worked with them for almost 12 long years. In 2011 she decided to end her association with Sony and started working with Delicious Deli Records, a franchise of Universal Music Japan.

In her career, she has united with renowned singers like M-Flo, BoA, Chemistry, and various other recording artists. As of now (2021), Kay has released over thirteen albums.

Crystal has worked for various Dramas, stage shows, and movies. Her work includes Dramas like Hidarime Tantei Eye 2010 in which she played the supporting role of Kokusho Akira, Non-Mama Hakusho 2016 in which she played the role of guest at the bar who sang the cameo song “Lovin’ You”, her work in Movies Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior 2018 in which she gave her vocals to the characters of Nurse Joy and Lucky plus sang the ending theme song ‘One’, Yamagata Scream 2019 in which her role was of Casey, Happy Feet two 2011 as the role of Gloria, Hikayat Hang Kway Teow 2013 in the part of Tan Tee Jah, Seoul Searching 2015 in the part of Jamie, The Earthquake Bird 2019 in the part of a Nightclub singer.

Her stage performance includes 2013 DANCE EARTH Seimei No Kod, 2019 Pippin, 2020 Hairspray which got cancelled due to the pandemic.
