Reiko Chiba was born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, on January 8, 1975. She is an Actress, Voice Artist, and sporadic J-Pop performer.
She began her acting career as ‘Mei/Ptera Ranger’ in the 1992 Super Sentai series “Kyry Sentai Zyuranger.” When the series was turned into a US version called “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, it broadcasted in Japan, where Chiba re-dubbed both ‘Ptera Ranger’ and the part of the US actress Amy Jo Johnson, ‘Kimberly Hart’ or ‘Pink Ranger.’
Reiko made her J-Pop debut as a member of ‘Aurora Gonin Musume’ on April 7, 1993, after the series ended.
Some of her other notable works could be seen in “Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Dinosaur Great Battle! Farewell”, “Eternal Friends (2014)”, “Dinosaur Squadron Zyuranger (1992)” and “Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (1994)”.
In 1995, she left the entertainment industry.
She has, however, made several public appearances at comic and anime conventions in the United States in recent years to help promote the official US DVD release of ‘Zyuranger.’
In 1998, Reiko married Tetsuhito Kirihara, and her legal name was changed to Reiko Kirihara. In business and other public settings, however, she is still known by her maiden name or “Chibarei.” Chiba has taken on a more mature public presence after her marriage and the birth of her son in 1999.
