Mana Ashida is a Japanese child actor and singer who has appeared in the films Usagi Drop and Confessions. In Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim, she plays young Mako Mori. Mana Ashida was born on June 23, 2004, in Tokyo, Japan. She is a singer and actress from Japan. Ashida made her debut appearance in the ABC Short Movie 2 of the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, but she shot to notoriety after starring in the television serial Mother. When she starred in Sayonara Bokutachi no Youchien, she became the youngest lead actress in the history of Japanese drama. In 2011, she became the youngest lead actress in a television serial drama when she starred in Marumo no Okite.

Confessions and Usagi Drop were two Japanese films in which she appeared. Mana-chan, a mix of her given name and the Japanese honorific used when greeting children, is her most common nickname (-chan). Ashida admitted to being a fan of the K-pop trio Kara. She enjoys uni-cycling and reading. She reads more than 60 books every month. After completing the entrance exam in April 2017, Ashida was accepted into Keio Junior High School, one of the most prestigious junior high schools in the Greater Tokyo Area.
