Chiaki Fujimoto is a Japanese Voice-over Artist, Singer, and Costume Designer.
She is the voice behind the animated character Doremi from the world-famous cartoon series Doraemon.
Born and brought up in Maizuru, Kyoto, Japan, to Mr Katsuji Fujimoto and her mother (her name is not known). Her father was the chairman of Nippon Sheet glass. Due to her father’s job, the family had to move to Ichihara, Chiba, when she was very young. In 2002 to Cocorico member Shozo Endo and later on, they parted ways in 2007. In 2003 they had a daughter together, Iroha.
Blessed with a melodious voice, she has sung songs like Doragao Janken, Dorami-chan’s Drawing Song, A Smile is a Secret Gadget, Meow-pada Wonderful, etc.
Other than that, She has also enacted in small dubbing roles, delivering the voice for Blanky in the Japanese dub of the Brave Little Toaster movie series, and later voiced for Dorami in the 2005 edition of Doraemon and the movie Doraemon: Nobita’s Space Heroes.
She gained the first position in a Tarento audition Television program hosted by Fuji TV in 1991. Afterwards, she gave her voice to Nontan’s and also sang the principal song for a similar prominent anime series about a cat.
She evolved as a successful singer and became the Lead Singer and Guitarist of the electronic rock group “Pocket Biscuits”, created as an instant music trio in a famous reality show-like program conducted by a humour duo “Ucchan Nanchan” in 1995. The group’s second single, “Yellow Yellow Happy”, exchanged a million dollars.
In 1998, the triad accomplished its hit number at the annual New Year’s Eve music show Kōhaku Uta Gassen, with an equivalent music threesome “Black Biscuits” featuring Taiwan’s actress Vivian Hsu. They gave rise to two million selling records but agreed to discontinue their singing pursuit in 2000.
