Ahn Jae-wook was born on 12 September 1971 in the Donam Dong Seongbuk district of Seoul. He graduated from Seoul Institute of the Arts and with a major in theatre. He made his acting debut in ‘Song of a Blind Bird’ in 1994, which is a real-life based story. In 1997, a Korean drama named ‘Star in my Heart Made’ Ahn Jae-wook widely recognized, and it was one of the first Korean drama to be aired outside Korea, making Ahn a Korean wave star.He became famous in China, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries. His song track ’Forever’ released in 1997, and was a big hit which sold over 700000 copies.
In 1998 he did three movies ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon’, ‘Rub Love’, and ‘First Kiss’. He was also a part of ‘Garden of Heaven’ in 2003. From the late 1990s throughout the 2000s, he appeared in more than 10 TV shows, namely ‘Goodbye my Love’, ‘I Love You’, and ‘Oh Feel Young’. In February 2013, he underwent brain surgery in the US after which he took a year’s rest before returning to work. He held a concert one fine day in 2014 to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry.In 2017 September, he was finalized as a fixed cast of busted, but was eventually dropped due to his drunk drivingincident in February 2019.

He won the Best New Actor in the 13th MBC drama awards in 1994. In 1996 he won Best New Actor in TV, Excellence Award for ‘Love and War’ from the 8th Baeksang Art awards and the 15th MBC drama awards.. He also won the best couple award with ‘Choi Jin Sil’ for ‘Star in my Heart’ in 1997. Ahn married actress Choi Hyun- joo on 1 June 2015
