Shim Hyung-Rae, also known as Hyung Rae, was born on January 3, 1958. Shim is a former comedian and filmmaker from South Korea who is most known for directing Yonggary and D-War, the most expensive Korean film ever made. He has collaborated with fellow directors Nam Gi-Nam and Kim Cheong-gi on numerous occasions. He had produced D-War: Mysteries of the Dragon.

As a director, he had done several projects, The Last Godfather (2010), D-War(2007), Yonggary(1999), Dragon Tuka(1996), The Power King(1995), Tirano’s Claws(1994), Pinky Can(1994), and Young-Goo and Dinosaur Zu-Zu (1993).
