TV Show Digest

Members of Sechs Kies come together for a fun trip full of games and more.

The Feel-Good Part

The playful members come alive with the many games and represent jolly entertaining moments.

The Disappointing Factor

Other than a trip with companions, it seems to lack something more. Such as, the tension between the band members seems off at specific points as if flickering.

In-Depth Analysis

The show also goes by the name “Sech Skies Arcade”. After winning the title of ‘god of games’, in their 22nd-anniversary celebratory reality show “Sechs Kies, What Happened in Bali?”, Kim Jae Deok decides to instigate another competition. He brings together the cluster of members with a plan in his hand.

Scrolling through different games, Jae Deok decides to keep all his options together for the challenges. But the other members are unaware of his plan. As they begin their drive to the special place, the hot discussion starts about penalties and more. The show becomes another amalgamation of games, almost replicating their actions in Bali. Each episode carries a subtitle that sets the theme for that episode. The different contests test their abilities and revisit old clips from their earlier days. As one of the prevalent first-generation artists in the K-pop industry, the clippings of past days are like memory tokens. It speaks of their earlier shared moments and other remembrances through this show. It replenishes their on-screen time together as it used to be before. Through playful goofiness and silliness, it pictures their competitive ferocity. Amidst these, past stories and experiences pop up and sprinkle subtle nostalgic feelings for the bygone days. The show captures those fun-filled moments and wraps them around their energetic aura. To keep up with the third-generation stars and the upcoming fourth-generation K-pop culture, the band members portray a different side of themselves as this show pictures. Even though it is hard to make a comeback after such a long gap, their determination comes up through these shows. It often carries the idea of memories of their old fandom. Nevertheless, their past relevance continues to hold a significant aspect.

Star Power

Sechs Kies is one of the famous first-generation K-pop bands that made its debut in 1997. But they disbanded in 2000 due to unconfirmed reasons. This sudden decision caused an uproar among the fans. Even though the reason behind their disbanding is still unclear, they reunited after 16 years in 2016 and are continuing their presence in the industry under the YG Entertainment company. Initial members of the band included Kang Sung Hoon and Ko Ji Yong, along with the present members. Current members are Eun Ji Won, Lee Jae Jin, Kim Jae Deok and Jang Soo Won, who are present in the show.

They popularised the notion of idol and fandom culture that has become a current global phenomenon.

Overall Opinion

This show will surely entertain the Sechs Kies fans. The new aura of the first-generation band holds the baton for old memories and new possibilities.
