The Disappointing Factor

It’s heartbreaking. A plot twist will make you even more depressed.

In-Depth Analysis

Seo Ri Ae (Jun So Min) was a woman who had everything. Ri Ae grew up surrounded by art as the daughter of a well-known and renowned museum director. Ri Ae’s greatest desire in life was to become an accomplished artist, since she was constantly in awe of the pieces of beauty around her. Unfortunately, her artistic ability never lived up to her mother’s and her own aspirations. Ri Ae was on the verge of quitting her job when Mo Cheol Woo (Choi Jung Won) entered her life. Cheol Woo is an extraordinarily talented artist who has fought for years to have his work noticed due to a lack of luck. Cheol Woo finds an opportunity to improve his fate after meeting Ri Ae by happenstance and seizes it. When Ri Ae agrees to add her name to his work, their lives are turned upside down. As fate brings the two artists closer together, they come to understand how much they have been losing out on in life. Ri Ae learns to put her vanity aside as Cheol Woo discovers a hope he’s never known before. The two fall in love unexpectedly as they become closer, but how long can their happiness survive when it’s built on lies? “The Name,” a 2020 love film directed by Heo Dong Woo, is a story of hope and dreams.

Star Power

Jeon So Min had a fine but not excessively contrived portrayal as a woman suffering with a tumultuous relationship with her mother, as well as her own health issues and unfulfilled goals. Choi Jung Won was lovely as the down-on-his-luck but never-say-die artist whose success was always just out of grasp.

Overall Opinion

Overall it is a story of hope and dreams, “The Name” is a 2020 romantic.
