The feel-good part

The first-time director Pil Gam Seong seemed to have understood the acting proficiency of Hwang Jung-min. The actor shines throughout the movie. The director has handled the film appropriately by giving it a smooth flow. The scenes where the timid member of the kidnapping gang showers his adoration for the movie celebrity is something to welcome in the movie. There is a perfect balance between realism and fiction in the film, and the script is commendable. The smooth transition from one scene to another is also to be highlighted.

The disappointing factor

One may question whether the surveillance camera didn’t observe every nook and corner of the crowded place from where the actor was abducted. Besides, the movie advances predictably.

In-depth analysis

Debut director Pil Kam-sung takes a fresh subject, and veteran actor Hwang Jung-min depicts the role of the kidnapped celebrity in the movie. He experiences true brutality that is different from what is shown in movies.

Star power

Hwang Jung-min’s character is well-formed, and his acting is at par excellence. He does not perform like a character from a movie, but an ordinary person kidnapped and threatened. His efforts to escape from the confined atmosphere will make the audience pity him. Besides being an actor who has worked in action movies, Hwang does full justice to his role of abducted celebrity. The film has added weight to reality through Hwang Jung-min’s character. The psychopathic kidnappers also make us dislike them throughout the movie. Though there are some newcomers, they have done a convincing job.

Overall opinion

Though the climax is predictable, one can watch the film for Hwang Jung-min’s effortless acting, one of Korea’s cinematic veterans.
