Both Akihito and Eriko have displeasing memories of high school that they want to stop haunting them. They endured all the agony with no other choice; and passed through the high school phase. Will the reunion help them overcome those painful memories? Or does fate have any other plans?

The Feel-Good Part

The movie has a few scenes of well-hidden comedy. The narration style of the movie is sensational. The story is a good attempt at showing how bullying affects students and their future and how it affects their mindset. The movie also shows that many students act immaturely in high school and don’t gauge the consequences of their actions affecting others.

The Disappointing Factor

The movie is not realistic enough in the bullying aspect. The logic is all over the place and sometimes confuses the audience with the storyline. The plot lacks reasoning as to why the characters did few things. The part about who liked whom in high school is confusing. Character development is also lacking.

In-Depth Analysis

The movie focuses on high school bullying and its effects on those getting bullied. Being bullied is painful and affects one’s mind and body. Akihito and Eriko stand in the same place, looking for means of getting along with their lives. The bullying that created pain in the past carries over into the present and affects the future. The flashbacks in the movie introduce the lead characters’ past to the audience slowly. Every bullying has a cause behind it. The movie portrays how the two leads were connected using flashbacks. To be happy, those painful wounds caused by the bullying must be closed. The story shows how the two leads try their best to seal their wounds and leave them in the past. The reunion with someone in the past may open the wounds. Akihito and Eriko’s reunion after seven years should have some significance in the story. Overcoming the past is all about healing each other. The story is about gaining closure to their past happenings. The plot also portrays the immature phase of adolescence, inflicting pain on others intentionally or unintentionally.

Star Power

Inoue Yuki has played the part of Akihito Yoshihara, the boy who had a deep crush on a girl in high school. That girl is Eriko Ishikawa, played by Ayane Kinoshita. The two have efficiently thrown light on the movie’s attempts to aware the audience about bullying and its effects. Their portrayal of emotions is no joke.

Overall Opinion

Those who like to watch movies with bullying themes could give it a try.
