Movie Digest

This story is about the busy streets of Japan where a pair of brothers – Li Dong, who is currently in Cancer stage 4, convinces his elder brother, Li Chun, who is trapped in lifeless marriage, to travel with him to the city of Yanagawa which is also known as ‘Venice of Japan,’ looking forward in finding their mutual past love, Liu Chan. Dong keeps his silence regarding his illness and silently accepts his upcoming fortune.

 The Feel-Good Part

The film didn’t have too many exaggerated twists and plots which was the exciting part. It was a gentle film with the perfect amount of romance and drama. Another exciting element highlighted is the perspective of human memory. How much can we seem to remember? Can the other person remember things perfectly the same? Can we rely on the pictures of our past?

 The Disappointing Factor

The chemistry of all the characters was remarkable, but it felt like the emotions were robbed. There was still so much storyline left that could have been added to the script. Despite the excellent writing and filmography, more details could have been provided as there was still so much to be desired.

 In-Depth Analysis

The hard reality of life is analyzed perfectly through the show. The two brothers are significantly different from each other in terms of natures, personalities, and even accents. Li Dong is kind and soft-spoken whereas Li Chun is pretty loud and spontaneous. One speaks Japanese and English, and other speaks Chinese. Their former love interest, who moved to Yanagawa, now performs in a bar and is settled with a young Japanese man whom she met in England. Their first meeting was pretty memorable. Their conversations revolve around the events of their past.

 Star Power

The cast did an excellent job in portraying each of their characters effortlessly. The film’s most spellbinding quality is the weight of the characters’ memories. Their past and current situation references did an impeccable job. Their acting made the film watch worthy.

 Overall Opinion

This film is about departing without leaving anything behind and the importance of a healthy relationship. There is no bitterness at all between the two siblings despite their differences and upcoming death.
