A member from Heaven is sent to the human world to train and gain experience of being a cook. He competes and gains the attention of some jealous elements. In fear, he moves away to far flung village, and give up on his dream of being a chef.  The movie talks about his return, the manner in which he takes on his enemies under the guidance of the wise using cooking as medium.

The Feel Good Part

The story line is quite interesting, and by using the medium of cooking, showcases its importance in Chinese culture. The performances are also quite good.

The Disappointing Factor

Some of the scenes could have been avoided, and the editing could have been tighter.

In-Depth Analysis

The movie depicts the journey of Tang Mo, who travels from heaven to the human world to become a better chef. He is great at cooking, and a mysterious old man invites him to participate in the competition called “Championship of Cookery” promising a hefty sum of 5 billion in prize money.

Tang Mo, does take part, and his wonderful culinary skills catches the attention of unscrupulous elements. Mo gets scared, and escapes to the Five Flavor village wherein all master chefs of all cooking styles live as hermits.

Initially, Mo intends to give up his skill and return to heaven, but encouraged by his mysterious old man and six Masters, Mo returns to take on his enemy, and win the competition.

Star Power

The movie has Pang Yu Nong who plays Mo, and he is backed by a great support cast.

Overall Opinion

If you are in a light-hearted mood and a culinary fan, then this movie is for you
