Movie Digest

“Crazy Beggar Su Qi Er” is a comedy-action drama, where we get to see the typical Chinese extraordinary action sequences, along with comedy and tragedy. The martial arts scholar Su Can (Peng Yu Si), suffered a memory loss during a fight and became a vagrant called Su Qi Er. Jinzhi and her daughter Guo shared their roof with him along with the other three beggars. The strange death of citizens to the usage of deadly opium, in turn, leads to the involvement of Su Can. Cheng Tao as Lei Xiaofeng also plays an important role. What happened afterward? Watch the series to find out more.

The Feel-Good Part

The action sequences in the film are well-planned and choreographed. Though the story is mainly focussing on the conspiracy and the eradication of the Tianmen Sect with the government, they didn’t forget to highlight the need for family love and support. The relationship shared by Su Can with Jinzhi, Guo, and the other two beggars is so warm yet funny.

The Disappointing Factor

The picturization and the background set up representing an old Chinese era is at its best but the value of comedy could have been scripted better. Even at some parts, we feel like overly exaggerated facial expressions as a part of comedy.

In-Depth Analysis

Su Can, a genius martial arts scholar lost his memory during a fight with Tianmen Sect against selling opium and luring the poor citizens onto it. They even sold their wives to buy opium cigarettes which showed a reflection of how much one’s mind and body can be addicted to such drugs.

Jinzhi and her daughter Guo gave shelter to Su Can and other beggars and unknowingly they created a warm and supportive relationship with each other as family. The acting of little Guo was amazing and her combination scenes with Su Can are funny and beautiful. The fatherly affection she got from Su Can be seen in several scenes throughout the movie.

Lei Xiaofeng portrayed the role of a dedicated investigator and his combination scenes with Su Can during the intense fight with the most dangerous villain Cao Kang portrayed by Ning Xiaohua was also well choreographed and eye-catching.

Star Power

The casting is perfectly done. Chen Juli, the director of Crazy Beggar, knew how to grab each actor’s potential onto the screen.

Overall Opinion

“Crazy Beggar Su Qi Er”, is a movie dealing with a serious issue that is always a threat to humankind. The use of drugs, opium cigarettes, etc… still influencing people’s mind in a very bad way. The nature of narration is just like old grandma stories.
