Drama Digest

It is a compilation of behind-the-scenes of the Thai BL series “Why R U?”.

The Feel-Good Part

The acting of the cast is commendable, especially that of Zee who plays the role of Fighter. The scenes with the whole cast are both fun and heart-warming to watch. The gradual yet clear development of the relationships of the characters is really enjoyable to watch. Moreover, instead of only a single couple, the show focuses on other couples as well which diversifies the concepts. Each couple has their own story and screen time. The original drama relays a positive social message as well by portraying healthy characters and relationships and calling out homophobia in a straightforward manner.

The Disappointing Factor

The drama focuses a lot on the supporting characters as well with each having a story of their own, which cannot be justified in such a short drama. Also, there were unexplained sudden changes in some characters which may not go well with some viewers. The ending feels very rushed and abrupt as well.

In-Depth Analysis

The series focuses on the evolution of relationships of the couples Fighter and Tutor and Zon and Saifah. Tutor comes across as wise and rational whereas Fighter is an emotional guy. Though initially, they start on bad terms, gradually they develop feelings toward each other. Zon and Saifah are the second pair in the series. Saifah is a mischievous and popular musician whereas Zon is a shy yet stubborn sci-fi writer.

Star Power

The series stars Saint Suppapong Udomkaewkaniana as Tutor, Zee Pruk Panich as Fighter, Tommy Sittichok Pueakpoolpol as Zon and Jimmy Karn Kritsanaphan as Saifah. The supporting cast includes Perth Veerinsara Tangkitsuvanich, Janis Janistar Phomphadungcheep, Pangpond Akalavut Mankalasut, Toy Thanpat Thanachakulphisan, Tonnam Paimchon Darmrongsunthornchai, Poppy Ratchapong Anomakiti, Park Parnupat Anomakiti, Seng Wichai Saefant, Mark Sorntast Buangam, Nat Natasitt Uareksit, Max Kornthas Rujeerattanavorapan and Goy Arachaporn Pokinpakorn. The cameo of Mew and Gulf as Tharn and Type from the series TharnType is a cherry on the cake.

Overall Opinion

This series is a light hearted romantic drama with just the right bit of angst and tension between the characters which makes it very entertaining to watch. Though the ending is a bit unsatisfactory, it can be justified because of the pandemic. Overall, this is a decent watch if you are up for some romance with a bit of underlying tension.
