Drama Digest

Sprinter Ki Sun Gyeom, a national competitor, was forced to leave his team because of legal concerns. Oh Mi Joo is a translator who subtitles movies. She is a self-assured woman who is passionate about her work and content with her life. One day, these two just so happen to cross paths, and that sparks their romance. Ki Sun Gyeom works for a sports agency whose CEO is Seo Dan Ah. She is prevented from moving up in her company because of her gender. A student majoring in art who enjoys life and is laid-back, Lee Young Hwa, enters her life.

The Feel-Good Part

Unlike the cliche romance plots where the leads have fights back and forth and normalize certain toxic practices among couples, this drama perfectly showed what it is like to have a realistic and healthy relationship. The emphasis on the importance of communication which is normally ignored in dramas was brought to the audience’s attention. While the relationship between Ki Seongyeom and Oh Mijoo  is mature, Seo Danah’s and Younghwa’s relationship is more lighthearted so it perfectly balances it out for the audience.

The Disappointing Factor

The characters were presented nicely, but it’s clear that some of them weren’t given the same attention to detail as Oh Mijoo. The only one who seemed to have the most intriguing and original things to say was her. The other characters, including the male lead, received less attention. Compared to other male protagonists, his personality is bland, yet the writer lost out on so much of his potential.

In-Depth Analysis

This show approached romance plays in an unorthodox manner. Oh Mijoo is a career lady who is determined to put in a lot of effort to pay her bills. Even though she didn’t have a perfect upbringing, she didn’t allow it stop her from leading a regular life later on nor did she despise herself. On the other hand, Ki Seon Gyeom, who hails from an affluent family and has a great career, is tired of people flocking toward him just because of his wealth and social standing. These two characters were quite different from one another, yet they nonetheless had a lovely connection. Like most couples, they did have misunderstandings, but what makes them unique is how they handled them.Instead of concentrating on their commonalities, they were learning to accept and love one another in spite of their differences. The same thing was portrayed by the second pair as well.

Star Power

Im Si Wan (Ki Seon Gyeom), Shin Se Kyung (Oh Mi Joo), Choi Soo Young (Seo Dan Ah) and Kang Tae Oh (Lee Young Hwa) did a great job portraying their roles.

Overall Opinion

Overall whilst Run-On is sweet romance drama which has well-written characters, an appropriate ending, humor and touched upon several notable realistic issues
