Drama Digest

Having a fish shop in a traditional market, Gong Soo Kwang is trying his best to earn a living. Unfortunately for him, people avoid him since he is reputed for being horribly unlucky. Therefore, his business is at an all-time low and no matter how much effort he puts in, he is unable to escape his bad luck.

However, he wasn’t always that way. He had a normal and happy life seven years ago. But all of that changed when he had a chance encounter with Lee Seul Bi. Ever since then, whenever he dreams of her, something bad happens.

He doesn’t have any idea why this happens, but she does. She had inherited a very special ability from her mother. Both women need but a single touch to see someone’s future. Realizing the potential in their abilities, a wealthy family has imprisoned Seul Bi and her mother for years. Seul Bi is so sheltered that she doesn’t even know how the outside world works.

When she finds an opportunity to escape, she runs away and goes straight to Kwang. However, he is hesitant to help her, since she is the woman who has affected his life so badly for seven years.

 The Feel-Good Part

Kwang and Seul Bi’s interactions are sweet and innocent and take the majority of the time in each episode. Although he is angry at her for being the cause of his bad luck, we know that our lead is warm-hearted from the inside and will not refuse to help the hapless girl, despite his circumstances. The comedy is unexpected at times and makes the series enjoyable to watch.

 The Disappointing Factor

So far, there has been nothing disappointing about the series.

 In-Depth Analysis

The story is good, the plot lines are well-executed, the characters are wonderfully well-rounded and most of them are very likable. Kwang’s selfless nature and will to live, regardless of the circumstances he is surrounded with, strikes a chord with the audience. For that, he works hard. In a world filled with cynicism and hopelessness, his character is like a breath of fresh air.

Seul Bi, despite being naïve and child-like, on account of being so sheltered, displays a surprising inner strength, which makes her a favorite among the audience. She is dynamic and makes the best of her circumstances. You would expect that the girl would be lost after being in such harsh company for so long, but no, she is strong and adaptable and that is what makes her so likable.

The series is seemingly clichéd, but it strays far from that path and makes for a unique premise. What I like most is that the characters are very inspiring, which is good, since the audience consists of teens and young adults. The camera work is commendable. The songs were nice and they really accentuated the moods and themes of the story. The series is very well-paced.

 Star Power

The actors are very well cast. The leads Seo Hyun and Na In Woo are very adorable, as well as expressive, and they greatly complement each other’s performance. Jeon Kwang Ryul is very convincing as the hateful villain of the story. Yoon Ji Hye turns in a noteworthy performance as well.

 Overall Opinion

The series is enjoyable and I would recommend watching it. It is very funny and the romantic moments made me feel butterflies with their honesty and vulnerability.
