Drama Digest

“A Superior Day” is adapted from a popular webtoon of the same name, it revolves around Lee Ho Chul, a regular firefighter. Things go out of hand when he finds out that his daughter is kidnapped. It is a survival of the fittest type of thriller where an ordinary man had to find and kill the serial killer to save his daughter. A stranger hints Ho-Chul that his neighbor is the culprit.

The Feel-Good Part

This drama doesn’t have many good scenes. The only satisfactory thing is the acting and the innovative story. Despite being slow it gives good suspense.

The Disappointing Factor

The story is good but the production and screenplay ruined it. The characters don’t give off strong impressions. It failed to portray the webtoon on screen. The story is also predictable.

In-Depth Analysis

This story runs from the perspective of three people, Lee Ho Chul, the firefighter whose daughter is kidnapped, Bae Tae Jin, a contract killer who hints to Ho Cheol that his neighbor may be the culprit, and Kwon Shi Woo, the psycho killer. After learning about his daughter’s kidnapping Ha Cheol searches for her trying to decode the identity of the killer who took her. He witnesses his daughter being taken away by a man in a car, he tries his best to stop it but couldn’t. He notes the car number and then he receives a call from the killer. The killer blackmails him saying that he will kill his daughter if he cannot find him within 24 hours. He races against time and chases the killer before he could kill his daughter along with the cops.

Star Power

Lee Wong Geun did a great job as a psycho character. Jin Goo and Ha Do Kwon’s performances are also very good. We can watch the drama just for them alone.

Overall Opinion

Overall, it is average. It is violent and doesn’t have any comedy. The execution is bad and ruined it but the acting is good and the story is pretty interesting. It is worth watching only once.
