Drama Digest

Otokawa Machika is at a loss after losing her partner Hatta Yukito, until a former coworker and Yukito’s previous lover, Fukai Sawako, appears. The two eventually move in together, and the happy and funny Sawako is warmly welcomed by Machika’s family. However, Sawako’s sporadic beauty and insanity start to have an impact on Machika’s interactions with different individuals. It is unknown for what reason Sawako is acting like she is; it might be jealously, love, or even something more.

The Feel-Good Part

Sawako, a terrifyingly beautiful character who is driven by her own insanity and craziness, is the center of the show’s very captivating lunacy, which is explored in great detail. The lengths she will go to in order to achieve her goals keeps us interested in her and her character. If we had to judge the entire production by its overall performance, we would find it to be very artistic, sensual, but also rather jumbled up.

The Disappointing Factor

The focus on the main character, Sawako, is the only disappointing aspect of the entire show. The whole show is so focused on her madness and insanity that we fail to find any screen time for the side or supporting characters who could have brought the whole show to even greater heights in terms of the enjoyment that it would provide to the audience and the viewers. The side characters, however, do an amazing job of staying true to their characters in the little time they have available to showcase themselves.

In-Depth Analysis

Hatta Yukito, Otokawa Machika’s future boyfriend, is lost. Before the perplexed Machiko arrives, Fukai Sawako, a former lover of Yukito, ends up living with Machika by happenstance. The happy and brilliant Sawako is welcomed by Macika’s family, but her beguiling nature and craziness contaminate her family and the people around her. The younger brother of Machika, Otokawa Kensuke, who is drawn to Sawako’s beauty, detective Otsu Shinji, who approaches Macika, classmate Igarashi Nono from Kensuke’s art school, and reporter Makihara Kazuomi, who doubts Macika, all experience Sawako’s lunacy subtly approaching them. Why does Sawako, who is insane, repeatedly attack those who are close to Machika? Is there another goal, or is it only retaliation for the death of his lover, Yukito Hatta? A terrible and exciting growth of women’s “revenge,” “jealousy,” and “desire for dominance” lurks behind Sawako’s spiraling insanity.

Star Power

Shuri, who plays the role of Fukai Sawako, and Fukagawa Mai, who plays Otokawa Machika, give an amazing performance in showcasing their true twisted selves, which is worthy of appreciation.

Koseki Yuta as Hatta Yukito, Shoji Kohei as Ohtsu Shinji, Akama Mariko as Otokawa Sumi, Iwatani Kenji as Otokawa Tomoharu, Sota Ryosuke as Otokawa Kensuke, Nagao Takuma as Yabuike Tohru, Matsumoto Leo as Yabuike Yuichi, and Nakazawa Miko as Yabuike Mizuki form the supporting cast, who also give a wonderful performance.

Overall Opinion

This whole show is a roller coaster of emotions and does an amazing job of coming up with the unique genre of “romance thriller.” Japanese dramas are known for their innovative plots and high quality. This show would be perfect for your love for Japanese dramas.
