Drama Digest

Ano Toki Kiss Shite Okeba is a Japanese show. The plot of the show is very simple. The male lead Nozomu Momochi is a simple selfless person who works at a supermarket and loves reading manga. A fortunate encounter with the writer of his favorite manga changes everything.

The Feel-Good Part

There are many feel-good parts in the show as Ano Toki Kiss Shite Okeba has a funny and unpredictable plot. One of the best parts of the show is when the altruistic Nozomu Momochi learns the value of self-love through his unusual relationship with Yuizuki Tomoe.

The Disappointing Factor

The biggest disappointing factor of the show was how underwritten Momochi’s character looked as the show progressed. It would have been interesting to see his struggles, his emotions, and feelings other than simply a reaction to Yuizuki’s emotions. Also, the show could’ve picked more easily the awkwardness of LGBTQ2+ relationships in Japan and how people reacted to the same.

In-Depth Analysis

Ano Toki Kiss Shite Okeba is a Japanese TV series. It has a very simple plot. Nozomu Momochi is a modest nobleman who works in a supermarket and loves reading manga. On a fortunate day, he gets to meet Tomoe Yuizuki, the writer of his favorite manga. But she was not at all what he expected her to be. She’s wealthy with a splendid home and a wardrobe studded with designer clothes. The meeting brings them closer as they more about each other. Yuzuki loves her work. She goes to hula dancing classes and is a regular customer at Momochi’s shop. Her manga is popular but with fame comes its price. She receives a lot of negative messages from anti-fans. All of this takes a toll on her mental health and she’s been feeling out of it. But meeting Momochi and getting to know him changed her perspective and her life for the better. Everything was going well when suddenly a trip changes everything in their life. The premise of the show is unique and beautiful. The comedy, the romance, and the life-changing experience that the characters go through make for a beautiful show. The show offers a unique sense of comedy that can easily be hit-and-miss for anyone. But the overall feel of the show is wholesome and beautiful.

Star Power

The star power of the show is the male and female lead actors. They were the life of the entire show. They were cute and hilarious at every moment. Most of the cast delivered a great performance. The chemistry between the leads was beautiful and came out looking natural.

Overall Opinion

Overall, the show has a very basic plotline with an overused twist that somehow works well for the drama. The struggles of the female lead, the problems that came with fame. All of it made the drama grounded amid the crazy plot. The plot, the characters, the dialogues, the character arcs everything made this drama a lot better than any other BL or romance I’ve seen from Japan.
