Drama Digest
Set up during the Song Dynasty, Zhou Yao is a 16-year-old girl, who has an avid interest and talent in sumo wrestling due to her mother’s background, who is also a wrestling enthusiast. Zhou Yao would disguise herself as a man and would go to themost extensive Wa She (瓦舍, Theater) in the capital city, which was run by her father Zhou Zihai. However, the situation in the market becomes complicated when Zhou Yao’s father and her second uncle Zhou Zishan get into a feud, which results in Yao losing both her parents in a fire accident. Then Zhou Zishan unlawfully ‘confiscates’ his brother’s property and kicks Zhou Yao out of her house. Now Zhou Yao, a young and strong-willed lady would do anything to find the person behind her parent’s death and remove all the allegations against her. But how will she prove herself innocent and give justice to her parents, watch the Series to find out more.
The Feel-Good Part
Although women’s wrestling had been popular back in China, it still garners a lot of attention from the netizens due to its unusual storyline and plot which is portrayed well, and most importantly, the running time. It is a short-length Drama series that spans for about 6 minutes per episode. So, it wouldn’t feel that some of the scenes are dragged, which is why it’s pretty enjoyable for people who would want to watch a drama and not sit for 30-40 minutes to finish an entirety of an episode of a show. And above all, the storyline is far from the cliché dramas and has a good plot twist. It is definitely for people who would want to try something another genre in the field of Drama.
The Disappointing Factor
There isn’t much of a negative factor about the Drama. One thing would be that due to time constraint, it might feel that some of the panels are cut off which could break the flow of the show.
In-Depth Analysis
The short-length drama Series, which can be safely assumed as a genre itself, has been in hype nowadays and is growing quite rapidly. The storyline depicts Zhou Yao as a bold person, who is loving and a hardworking woman and is ready to fight all odds to get revenge. The Series highlights a variety of components like love, society, competitiveness, Drama, Romance, thus giving it a diversified value to it.
Star Power
We see Zhou Yao played Liu Yongxi did a commendable job of portraying her character and tracing every individual quality of a strong will-powered woman. Run Chen as Zhang Yu also did justice to his character.
Overall Opinion
It is an excellent show to invest your time on. If you want to complete a series quickly and also want to see a different genre of drama which has a strong female lead and amusing storyline, this show definitely fits in.
