Drama Digest
“Thousand years for you” is a Chinese romantic and fantasy drama. Zheng Weiwen directed it. The drama tells the love story between a God of War and the female chief of bandits. The God of War Lu Yan has a mysterious power and the female bandit named Yu Dengdeng is the chief of Qingquan village.
The Feel-Good Part
This drama is one of the most anticipated dramas in 2022. It has strong characters with stronger lead actors. The pacing of the show is good and has an interesting plot. Decision-making and questioning are important elements of the female character. The costume design and details were magnificent. The CGI and fight scenes provided all the entertainment. As a fantasy show, it provided a unique storyline and an epic love story. The show had a good blend of all the emotions, from humor, suspense, drama, and more.
The Disappointing Factor
The show is of the romance genre, but it failed to provide it miserably. There was no chemistry between the leads, and the cast did not fit well for the main characters. The ending was rushed and could have had a proper explanation. The major drawback was the voicing, for which they used the original voice of the actors, which most of the time seemed dull.
In-Depth Analysis
Lu Yan was a general thousand years ago. He was the prince of the Shu Kingdom. He is called the god of war and has lived for about three thousand years. There is a mysterious power to him. He stays in a slumber to resurrect the mysterious “Righteous Lady”. Yu Deng Deng is the chief of Qingquan village and also the female leader of a bandit group. She was previously the Saintess of the Spirit clan and is now reincarnated as Yu Deng Deng. She wakes Lu Yan up mistakenly and their love story starts to blossom. She finds him quite attractive at the first glance and forces him to marry her without being aware of his true identity. Therefore, the love story of a thousand years of destiny begins.
Star Power
Ren Jia Lun and Li Qin were the ones attracting the most viewers. But the poor chemistry between them made it disappointing. The pairing of the two actors did not fit well, and the romance seemed dull in most scenes. The two of them were not fit for the characters given in the show. Ren Jia Lun is new to the field of voicing and hence could not deliver the emotions. His acting seemed monotonous, even in severe scenes. Individually, Li Qin did a great job in her role as Dengdeng. Ren Jia Lun’s character was also fitting for him, as the roles, he played previously are similar. The side character was fun. More than the main couple, the second couple brought life to the drama. They provided all that was required from the main leads.
Overall Opinion
It is an enjoyable drama with a unique storyline. The romance factor is weak for the show. If it removed the romance and focused on other elements, it would have had a higher rating. Besides the unsatisfactory pairing of the main characters, the show was pleasant.
