Ye An An is a college student who used to be in the Chinese department but accidentally finds herself in the mathematics department. She does not know maths, especially at the university level. However, she unwittily makes a bet with the top student in her maths major that she can catch up to her brilliance. She tries hard to study by herself but fails since she has no foundation in mathematics. In her frustration, she prays for the assistance of any god of maths. In reply to her prayer, Shu Xue, the spirit of mathematics whose name is the same as “math” in Mandarin, appears. He tutors her and puts her through vigorous training to help her learn math. Ye An An tries to get away from his harsh tutoring numerous times but fails. Gradually, Ye An An and Shu Xue fall in love.
